This original equipment manufacturer trusts VEGA pressure sensors
Sonic Mixing Corporation, a leading provider of blending and homogenizing systems for the chemical industry, has always prioritized reliability, efficiency, and safety in its products. Sonic Corp’s goal is to develop long-term relationships with clients and instill them with confidence. Their commitment to excellence leads them to integrate VEGABAR 38 and VEGABAR 39 pressure sensors into their skid systems, a decision that has proven transformative for both performance and cost-effectiveness.
Skidding on sensor solutions
Sonic Mixing Corporation constructs skids which are each tailored to specific client needs, featuring between 3 and 10 pumps. These skids utilize pipelines with diameters ranging from 3/4" to 2", through which fluid is pumped and monitored by flow meters. The critical need for accurate pressure monitoring, especially in challenging environments like Class 1 Division 1/2 areas, made finding the right pressure sensors essential yet difficult.
Class 1 Division 1/2 classification requires intrinsically safe equipment, and finding pressure measurement solutions that met these standards was a significant challenge. Many available options were prohibitively expensive. To address these challenges, Sonic Mixing Corporation turned to the pressure measurement experts at VEGA.
Raising the BAR on pressure measurement
After consulting with VEGA, Sonic Corp integrated VEGABAR 38 and 39 pressure sensors into their skids. These sensors were selected for their built-in safety demands, affordability, and advanced features, making them ideal for the company's stringent requirements.
The VEGABAR sensors are mounted in tee-offs within the pipelines to monitor pressure at both the inlet and outlet sides of the pumps. Depending on the number of pumps, each skid features 6 to 20 pressure transmitters. For instance, a skid with 6 pumps would have 12 VEGABAR units—6 on the inlets and 6 on the outlets—ensuring comprehensive monitoring.
In inlet monitoring, the VEGABAR sensors measure suction and detect starvation conditions to prevent drawing a vacuum, which can occur if a valve is left closed or the tank on the inlet side runs dry. This protects the pumps and ensures the process runs smoothly.
On the outlet side, the sensors monitor for clogs in the pipeline that could cause dangerous pressure increases. The sensors' switch points can shut off the system to prevent damage and ensure safety.
Reaping the rewards at “Sonic” speed
By partnering with VEGA, Sonic Corporation gained a trusted advisor on pressure measurement that provides fast responses to their needs along with the technical know-how and solutions they and their customers demand. The benefits Sonic Corp reaped from integrating VEGABAR 38 and VEGABAR 39 sensors on their skids include:
Cost-Effectiveness: VEGABAR sensors offered a price point three to four times lower than alternative solutions, making them a cost-effective choice given the need for multiple sensors on each skid.
Enhanced Safety and Performance: The sensors' ability to monitor inlet and outlet pressures accurately protects pumps from damage due to suction or overpressure conditions, ensuring operational safety and reliability.
User-Friendly Features: The Bluetooth communication capability of VEGABAR 38 and VEGABAR 39 allows for easy wireless setup and monitoring. Additionally, the LED color light ring provides a clear visual indication of sensor status, enhancing usability.
Safe and Reliable: Meeting the stringent requirements for Class 1 Division 2 environments, VEGABAR 38 and VEGABAR 39 sensors ensure safe operation in hazardous areas, crucial for many of Sonic Mixing Corporation’s skids.
VEGA and Sonic Corp: The perfect mixture for customer confidence
The adoption of VEGABAR 38 and VEGABAR 39 pressure sensors has revolutionized Sonic Mixing Corporation’s approach to pressure monitoring. By offering a reliable, cost-effective, and user-friendly solution, VEGA’s sensors have enhanced the performance and safety of their skids, allowing Sonic Mixing Corporation to maintain its reputation for excellence while managing costs effectively.
